GRACEMAIL GOALS - 1

The chief goal of this gracEmail ministry is sharing the good news that God has set sinners right with himself through Jesus Christ, a reality that we enjoy by trusting that it is true. Our second goal is encouraging and empowering believers in Jesus Christ around the world to recognize, experience and celebrate their oneness with all others who know Jesus as Savior and Lord, regardless of denomination, church fellowship or historic tradition. This week I call to your attention some resources that can advance both goals. Our website contains thousands of pages of helpful materials at no cost to you, of which the following set out the gospel message. I mention these in order of length beginning with the most brief. Finally I mention my full-length survey of the Bible message in the 149-page book THE GREAT RESCUE.

Four Gospel Slogans explains the Reformation slogans "solely grace," "solely faith," "solely Christ" and "solely Scripture." It makes plain why grace and faith go together, how both depend on Jesus Christ and the role of Scripture as primary written witness to the gospel.

The Grace of God presents the core message of the gospel that we cannot set ourselves right with God but that God has done that by the perfect doing and dying of our representative, the Lord Jesus Christ. For more than 30 years, God has used this little booklet to give assurance of salvation to thousands of believers around the world.

One Life, Death and Judgment presents in simple fashion the good news about Jesus Christ from the Epistle to the Hebrews. Just as humankind is appointed to live once, die once and be judged, so also Jesus Christ lived one life, died one death and faced God's scrutiny in judgment. Because Jesus lived and died as the representative for all his people, his life and death count for those who trust in him. The outcome of our judgment is therefore certain, for Jesus is already at God's right hand in glory -- and he is our representative.

A Journey Toward Jesus is a series of 16 thoughtful letters between me and a younger preacher struggling with sectarianism and legalism, who finds freedom in Jesus Christ. (Although our context was the non-institutional wing of Churches of Christ, the principles involved here impact Christians in most denominations and nondenominations.)

Our Man In Heaven is my verse-by-verse exposition of the Epistle to the Hebrews, in which its unknown author masterfully glorifies the sacrifice and priestly ministry of Jesus Christ for sinners.

The Great Rescue: The Story of God's Amazing Grace is at once a gripping novel and compelling theology text. It unfolds the sweeping panorama of God's redemptive work, taking the reader literally from Genesis to Revelation. The resulting picture is truly a masterpiece of grace. Biblical truths on which our very lives hang are made accessible to readers of every level. From the riveting profile of an utterly broken and lost world that fills the first page, to the crescendo of salvation that steadily rises, The Great Rescue reaches its climax in a stunning final chapter that is itself worth the price of the book." (From the foreword by Dr. James E. Sweeney, retired Provost and Professor of Pastoral Theology at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon.)
