SOME SINS THAT UPSET AN APOSTLE

Introduction

Someone has said that the measure of a man is the seriousness of the thing that provokes him. In this lesson we see some sins that upset an apostle -- Paul! In holy provocation, he responded to these sins with a letter to the offenders -the church at Corinth. All references are from First Corinthians.

Body

I. Following preachers, taking "sides," and wearing labels (1:10-13).

II. Ignoring God's word instead of receiving it as divine revelation (2:11-14; 14:37, 38).

III. Being carnal cry-babies (3:1-3; 10:11; II Corinthians 12:20).

IV. Tolerating continuing immorality among professing believers (5:9-13).

V. Letting the least qualified lead the church (6:1-5).

VI. Assemblies that lack purpose, order or loving worship (11:17, 27-29; chapter 14).

VII. Failure to accept responsibility (12:12-18).

Conclusion

Corinth accepted their correction and made the necessary changes (II Corinthians 7:9, 10). How do you respond to needed correction in your own life?
